SimCity Deluxe Tips and Tricks

SimCity Deluxe Tips and Tricks

I mostly play SimCity deluxe on the iPad now, but these tips apply for all SimCity games in general. BTW, I have not tried this for Android, but it should work.

SimCity Deluxe Tips and Tricks

  • Put your powerplant in a far corner of the board. SimCity Deluxe Tips and Tricks
  • If you have a river near the centre of your world, build near it.  Any housing near a river is attractive to the Sims.  Be careful though, do not build such that you cannot grow from there.
  • Build 3×3 area first before building larger blocks SimCity Deluxe Tips and Tricks
  • Do not build too big too fast, but make sure you have a good balance. I’ve found starting with 4 light housing blocks, 2 med and 2 dense blocks to be useful.  2 light and 2 med business blocks are good.
  • Build your industry zones along the edge of the world. Yes you need more road and it takes more money, but it will protect against lots of pollution.  You will fight this battle throughout the game.
  • The Sims will scream for Police and Fire in the beginning.  Ignore them. These service cost lots of money.  Wait till you have solid income.
  • Build the Fire station first, then the police station.
  • You can never have enough water towers in the beginning.  Plan for that.
  • Pay attention to taxes.  This is your best tool for regulating income and growth.
  • Build parks to improve those borderline neighborhoods. Yes they take some money, but well worth it to turn a neighborhood around.
  • Don’t go nuts with roads.  You will not notice at first, but they can really add up.  As your town grows, make larger blocks.  Plan for buses.  I’ve only once used a train system and that was when my city was becoming like Tokyo.

SimCity Deluxe iPad Review 4

SimCity Deluxe iPad Review 4

In addition to the new interface, the visuals in SimCity Deluxe have been spruced up for the iPad. Everything has extra animation and really pops off the screen. It goes a long way to making your cities not look so same-ish after a while.

The Verdict
In the end, SimCity Deluxe’s value comes down to whether you’re feeling burnt out on this classic gaming franchise. The core game remains largely unchanged. However, if you’re looking for a way to kill some time, or perhaps a way to inflate your ego a little by becoming the megalomaniacal mayor of a fake town, then this is a good way to do so, especially with this enhanced iPad edition.

SimCity's menus and interface look great, especially on the iPad thanks to its additional real estate. The touchscreen is an excellent way to navigate around the many options. The iPad edition adds pop-outs for checking city activity and status, making it easier to customize your experience.

SimCity Deluxe iPad Review 2

SimCity Deluxe iPad Review 2

That's right, SimCity Deluxe has seasons -- one of the changes that this version has over the previously released SimCity for iPhone. Along with seasons, this version of SimCity offers several scenarios as well as a starter city if you don't want to start from scratch.

Scenarios are a nice addition for players who either want a change of pace or who are intimidated by the game's lack of a win-or-lose style of objective. Starter cities are also a welcome bonus because they give you the option to alter a pre-made world. Basically what you have with SimCity Deluxe is largely the same core experience as the last iPhone version, but with considerably more options. And yes, my friends, more options are definitely a good thing.

SimCity Deluxe iPad Review

SimCity Deluxe iPad Review

Games do many things for us, such as stroke our egos, let us indulge our fantasies, and offer the escapism we so often crave. One franchise that's been particularly fantastic for this is SimCity, which even after 20 years still manages to engage us for countless hours. The newest iteration, SimCity Deluxe for iPad, shows that no matter what system the game is on, SimCity is a fun way to kill some time SimCity Deluxe iPad Review.

If you've failed to play a SimCity at some point over the last two decades, allow me first to chastise you for missing out on one of gaming's most iconic franchises, and then explain to you what the heck this game's all about. SimCity is, unsurprisingly, all about constructing and managing a city SimCity Deluxe iPad Review.

To make your city function you have to plan and develop roads, mass transit, power and water circulation, and a host of other services. Good city planners have to do all this while paying close attention to the needs of their citizens, whether or not they're balancing the budget, and adapting as natural disasters occur with the changing seasons.

SimCity Deluxe for iPad

SimCity Deluxe for iPad

I am ashamed to admit that I have never actually played SimCity before, despite being a longtime fan of The Sims franchise. Luckily, I had a chance to rectify this when the App Store reduced the price of SimCity Deluxe for iPad to a mere 99 cents last week, prompting a speedy download.

Originally released in 1989 for the Commodore 64, the aim of SimCity is to build and maintain a thriving city come whatever thrown your way. Have you got what it takes to be the next Mayor? Let’s find out!

Simcity Deluxe Tips Sim City 5 Sim City 4

Sim City 5: pipe dream...or possibility? Back in early 2007, Warren Jenson, CFO of EA, insinuated that Sim City 5 may be "in the pipeline."

Let's take a close look at what has happened since then that hints toward the possibility of what Sim City 4 fans have been impatiently waiting for.

Sim City 4, a '2.5 dimensional' city simulator game released in 2003, spawned an entire subculture of city sculptors, designers and hobbyists thanks to its Building Architect Tool. Simcity Deluxe Tips Sim City 5 Sim City 4
Unfortunately, the game was plagued with various issues that, to-date, have never been officially patched by Maxis. The game would outgrow itself as then-modern computers weren't able to handle simple rendering of the game field.

After a single expansion -- Rush Hour -- the game never received any further add-ons or updates, and it became a fixture in 'bargain bins' in software stores around the world.

After long periods of silence with the series, a single quote from Maxis co-founder Will Wright quoted what appeared to be a nail in the coffin of the Sim City series as fans knew it: Simcity Deluxe Tips Sim City 5 Sim City 4

Cities XL 2012 and Simcity Deluxe Tips

Cities XL 2012 and Simcity Deluxe Tips

I was sad to start playing this game and see that they didn't do a whole lot to improve the game. In fact they didn't do much. The publishers of this game are just looking for a quick buck. There are many bugs in this game including several buildings that don't function properly. You have to delete the buildings or you have a city full of abandoned buildings (because there are not a whole lot of building choices and they duplicate a ton.) To anyone looking for a good city builder I would by Sim City 4 or wait til February of 2013 and buy the new Sim City. Cities XL 2012 and Simcity Deluxe Tips

There are some areas of the game that can be confusing but the gameplay itself is very involving. It has to be the most realistic city simulation available.
